Hey out there, Luceti. Are we all more or less ourselves again? Pretty sure we are, uh... here's hoping.

Considering how crazy things have been lately, Teddy and I were talking, and we think it'd be a good time to run this. We all need a break. So courtesy of the LGBTQQA Club - um, I'm tentatively calling it "Alliance", for the sake of minimizing all the abbreviations, better name possibly pending - I'm happy to introduce: Luceti's first-ever (I think) Speed Dating.

If you don't know what speed dating is, it's pretty much exactly how it sounds. The idea is we'd all get together, pair up, you'd talk to someone you might not have talked to before for about ten minutes, and then afterwards decide how you liked it and if you want to see them again. First impressions count for a lot, and sometimes that's all it takes to find your true love or your new best friend.

We're going to run it next weekend - Saturday afternoon, we figure is a good time - and sign-ups are starting now so we'll have time to pair everyone up. Anyone can participate, not just club members or people in the LGBT spectrum, and you're not obligated to do anything if you don't like it. So why not give it a shot? ...And we'll have cookies. Teddy's making them and the recipe looks amazing. Anyone else want to bring some food and stuff? We can have a table for contributions...

Um, anyway. I'll be over by the plaza today, and on the journal network, too, if you've got any questions or if you want to sign up.

[The above message is also written out (albeit less informally). And there's a table with posters and some forms in the plaza, near the school, all day. Billy's just hanging out and drawing the passerbys while he waits, if anyone wants to chat him up about it in person.]

Well, to be fair, the aliens aren't actually the government's fault. They just kind of assume Earth is the place to be, for some reason or other. Last time it was reclaiming a long-lost prince, and then there was a prophecy...

The universe is kind of a mess.

I never said it was Earth's government, did I? Nah, it's on the head of the other parties here. It's never cool to have your problems become someone else's too.

Point. Heck, some of the invading aliens don't even have governments. And don't even get me started on Galactus.

yanno, I think I'll let the Galactus bit go. Just...man, haven't they realized that anarchy gets you nowhere?

Apparently not. Some of them want to reorganize the leadership, I hear, but the ones currently in charge are after the wrong things. And other races... yeah, I have no idea what they're trying to do. But it's not helping Earth any.

That. Sucks.

[It really did, and the thought of something like that happening in a different universe really stuck in his craw. There was nothing he, or anyone, could do about it while in this strange world that somehow acted as an interdimensional nexus...but, there were obviously other problems.]

I wish you guys the best of luck with that. Seriously.

Thanks. I'd say we need it, but somehow we've managed to survive whole generations of this stuff, so we'll probably be okay. But hey, we could use all the well-wishes we can get.

Nah, we don't. It's something beyond what physics can get, and we've got gravitic warp drives. Seems like going back in time just ain't possible.

Ah, yeah. Sounds weird, but that's actually how we met. He came from about a thousand years in the future to try and get some help. Ended up recruiting me and a couple of other guys to join him.

And here I thought that there'd be a little problem with physics. How'd the 'getting help' thing go for him?

Well... it did resolve the issue he was having, sort of. He had to go back to his own time, though, so we're not really sure what happened in the end. I'm not sure if we'll ever know.

Sometimes that might be for the best. There's no point in wasting you time worrying over things you can't change anyway, and your buddy probly took a big risk even doing that. There's all that muck that sci-fi films get into about that.

Complicated and annoying. I hate time travel now, not gonna lie. A couple of us almost stopped existing because we unintentionally messed around too much.

That. There. Is my point. I don't get why people'd bother risking something like that.

To be fair, it was kind of necessary to do in the first place - when you're dealing with a time-traveling supervillain, you can't avoid dabbling a bit in the science yourself. But it's better to avoid it whenever possible.

[Okay. Wait. Cliff was once again stopped in his tracks by something that sounded like it was from a movie or something. A cheesy one at that, full of over the top costumes and top of the line graphics. Denoting someone as a 'villain' in casual conversation meant that 'heroes' were a named concept as well-- it was too cut and dry.

Rather than press the kid too much on the topic, Cliff stepped back a few paces. They were neighbors, in a way. Best not to step on toes.]

Look. I don't know anything about 'supervillains' or any of that, so I'm just gonna take your word on it. We'll save eachother a few headaches that way.
