Just passed one. [She inhales again. Sandalwood? Nice. But as she holds the cloak around her...]

Hope you don't mind if a little blood gets on this.

Mm, it's okay. It won't be the first time.

[Spoken in a completely nonchalant tone. The life of a super hero is just kind of like that.]

Really? You like to rough it up, then?

[She seems way too pleased about this. Interesting.]

Maybe a little. Sometimes you just can't walk away from a fight.

So what kind of experience do you have, Billy?

[Huh... he's going to go ahead and assume they don't have traditional super heroes in Avatar-land yet.]

Back home I worked with a team of crime fighters.

No kidding! That's sort of my job, too.

[She punches him on arm having forgotten she made them raw and bleeding earlier. She inhales sharply and recoils. Damn.]

[He probably doesn't look like much of a crime fighter when her punch makes him stagger to the side a few steps, though he looks more surprised than hurt by it. Her wince catches his attention, though.]

Your hands don't look so great... are you okay?

Nah, don't worry about it. I'll heal most of this when I get back.

[SPOILERS: She's a healer.]

I could heal it now, if you want.

[SPOILERS: so is he.]

Yeah? You heal me, and I'll get us an umbrella.

[A WATERBENDING UMBRELLA.]

Sounds like a deal to me. Here, give me your hands.

[He reaches out towards her, summoning his magic, a blue glow surrounding them as well as flaring to life in his eyes.

[She gasps a bit while she watches him to this. No frickin' way! She can tell this guy isn't from her world, so this isn't the Avatar State, but pretty close right? After looking all around, Korra's gaze return to his eyes. Wow she's grinning like an idiot. This is just too cool.]

[Since her injuries aren't serious, healing them doesn't take long, though it's a much different process than with bending- instead of water, for a long moment it looks as if her hands are being consumed by a warm, gently-soothing blue fire. He remains focused as he works, but once it's done and the glow begins to fade, he returns her grin.]

How's that? Feel any better?

Yeah... yeah, it's great!
[She rubs her hands, and then with a quick, sweeping motion she bends the water both off of them, and stops it from falling on them. Korra holds her hand up, creating a dome of dry space for them.]

So how'd you do it?

[Billy is momentarily distracted by the bending umbrella she's created, looking up with wide eyes and a big smile. This is so cool, he can't even begin to describe it. Waterbending is awesome.]

Oh, that? Magic.

[He gives his fingers a playful little wiggle; she'd mentioned it before, so he may as well recognize the distinction.]

[She giggles, and then starts walking back towards where she assumes the village is.]

Not as cool as bending, but okay. It's pretty neat, I'll give you that.

[Psh. He could argue that, since he's pretty sure he could do fake-bending with his magic if he wanted to, but there's little sense in starting a fight with someone you're trying to cheer up. He knows what Aang could do, and he doesn't want to piss off an Avatar who's already attacked him once.]

Give me about five minutes to recharge my batteries a little and I'll show you something cooler than that.

Oh yeah? You're gonna have to prove it.

Heh, just wait and see.

[He doesn't know what her world is like at her point in time, but he's pretty sure they don't have teleportation yet.]

So what's the deal with bending, if it isn't magic?

It's different. It's- You're born with it. It's a connection to the world, it's a way of life, and it's hard to explain.

And it... really does a number on people when it's taken away.

...Taken away?

[He glances over at her, suddenly concerned. But... isn't the Avatar the only one who can do that? So- what, did she have to do it, and now she feels guilty about it?

OH GOD SPOILERS]

Yeah, this guy who calls himself Amon has been taking people's bending away.

[So it doesn't have to be the Avatar? His mind. It is blown.

...Ooh, new series villain. Interesting.]

How can he do that? And why would he?

I've been told he does it with bloodbending. The story he tells his followers is that his family was killed by firebenders that bullied them.
