[A large boulder crashes back into the Earth as it repels off the barrier. It just barely misses a girl in her later teens. If one looks close she doesn't seem in very good condition. She's breathing heavy, her hair is a mess, and she's covered in cuts and bruises. Korra jumps a foot back, takes a deep breath, and yells. As her frustrated scream fills the area streams of fire shoot from her fists that are aimed at the barrier. Again nothing happens, and the large inferno she created dies away. Despite panting heavily now she runs close enough to the barrier that it is in arm's length. Korra throws a flurry of punches, scraping her knuckles against the edge of the cage that keeps all the Lucetians in. Soon enough her knuckles will begin to bleed, and after a while her body becomes too exhausted to stand. Korra's knees buckle, and she lands on the ground. One more holler of agonized defeat and she's done.

No. No, no, no, no, no! She was the Avatar. She was supposed to use her strength and power to save people. She was supposed to be the bring of peace, and justice, and- And she's useless. She can't even save herself, she's helpless, how is she supposed to do her job? Her destiny? Fulfill her purpose in life? She's nothing. She is a failure, broken, and a defective Avatar. This... it isn't right. Korra bites her lip, and tries not to cry.]

[He'd been mulling over the idea of experimenting with new spells lately, as well as finding ways to help people in Luceti, so his attempt this morning is his way of killing two birds with one stone, so to speak. He'd woken early that morning, gotten himself in costume, and hung out in the apartment's living room to experiment with phrasing. After a bit of testing, the magic seemed to work with a single chant:

"IwanttofindanewcomerIwanttofindanewcomerIwanttofindanewcomer-"

Which results in a rather flashy teleport to the middle of nowhere, the weather miserably damp, the terrain ruined. It looks like a tornado tore through the place, sheesh. Not far off is a girl on her knees in the dirt, wearing a New Feather dress, and Billy can't help but feel a bit of a thrill at his success. His magic worked! Now the rest is up to him.]

Hey, are you okay?

[As a knee-jerk reaction Korra bends water at him like he's an enemy - however the attack is weak, and if he allows it to connect it'll be more like being splashed in a pool than an actual blow. Give her a minute to register you're not out to get her.]

[hjsdhfdf WHOA okay maybe he should rethink his strategy. Thankfully he's sort of trained for this stuff, so when the water flies at him he lurches to the side, though it does catch on his arm. In the middle of his dodge it clicks that- whoa, did she just pull water out of nowhere and throw it at him? Cool- but he brushes it aside for the more important job of calming her down.]

Hold on, it's okay! I'm here to help you!

Yeah, right! You're-

[Wait. He actually doesn't look like he's too far from her age.] You are?

[...Does this mean she's not going to keep trying to kill him? He relaxes a little.]

Yeah, I am. I know you're probably confused, but there's an explanation for all of this, I swear. Just... don't throw anything at me.

[She rolls her eyes, and heaves a sigh.]

I promise I won't bend anymore water at you.

[.....

Did she just say bending?]

That's... what you call it?

Well yeah, it's not magic.

[Why does she say that like magic is a bad thing D: Is she not going to like hi- OH MY GOD SHE IS A BENDER FOR REAL]

W... wow. Uh. Okay... let's start over. I'm Billy, and this is Luceti.

Hey, Billy. I'm Korra, and I knew that second part already.

You do?

[...wait...

Korra? A waterbender named Korra? As in the barely-announced, still-in-production, trailer-doesn't-exist-yet Korra?

....

Holy crap.]

[The very one.]

Che, yeah. Just got back from being poked and prodded at like some sort of cow-pig.

[Oh, wow.

He kind of likes her already.]

Geez... are you okay? I can't imagine how that must've been.

I'm alive.

[But "okay"? He'd have to define "okay" before she answered that.]

[Well, he's not about to pry into what getting kidnapped and experimented on would've done to her emotionally- he already knows what that's like, and it's not something he can imagine anyone wanting to talk about with a stranger. But she still looks hurt, and wet, and sitting in the dirt, so he steps over to her and crouches down in front of her, tugging off his cloak and draping it over her shoulders. Whether she's a powerful bender - an Avatar - or not, she's still someone who could use some help.]

Here, you're getting soaked. Do you need a hand up?

[She looks up at Billy. Huh, he... isn't a bad looker, and on top of that he didn't snap at her for reacting the way she did. The corner of lip tugs up a little bit.]

Yeah, I could use a hand. [She pulls the cloak around herself a little tighter.]

[That's a relief. He returns the smile with ease, standing up and offering his hand out to her. He'll pull her gently to her feet if she takes it.]

Come on, we'll get you back to the village.

[Maybe he can help cheer her up a bit on the way.]

[Korra gladly takes his hand, and stands up with his help. She's still a little shaky, but she can walk slowly. She inhales a bit deeply. The natural smell coming off the cloak isn't bad either. ~~MAN SMELL... okay no~~. When she walks she walks close to him.]

Have you been here long, Billy?

[If she's paying attention to the scent of it, she might notice a touch of sandlewood; he likes to keep clean, and his uniform is the most important outfit he's got. He's unbothered by how close she walks, stealing occasional glances in her direction to make sure she's walking okay. Her injuries are worrying him, even if they're not life-threatening.]

Let's see... it's August now, so just past three months. What about you?

Just passed one. [She inhales again. Sandalwood? Nice. But as she holds the cloak around her...]

Hope you don't mind if a little blood gets on this.

Mm, it's okay. It won't be the first time.

[Spoken in a completely nonchalant tone. The life of a super hero is just kind of like that.]

Really? You like to rough it up, then?

[She seems way too pleased about this. Interesting.]

Maybe a little. Sometimes you just can't walk away from a fight.
