[Today something strange is going on in the plaza; Billy and Tommy are there and hanging out, chatting awkwardly and messing with their powers. "Billy" is tossing bursts of blue light into the air like fireworks, and "Tommy" is flashing between one side of the plaza and the other, skidding a bit over the pavement like he's out of practice. They don't seem to be there for any particular reason, but if people happen to question it, they're more than happy to strike up a casual conversation. Just don't expect a straight answer...

At some point they split off to visit their usual haunts (the battle dome, the coffee shop, the school, some of the other stores, and in Billy's case, the sky) but they never seem to be very far from one another, for some reason.

Eventually they'll be back at home, and that's when the journal comes out:]

Hey, people, got a question for you. My little bro is really fixated on getting a piercing. It's probably the boyfriend's fault. Anyone know how to do that in a way that won't make him lose an ear? Like, not involving ice and a needle?

Oh my God. Tommy, shut up... okay, well, kind of what he said. Minus the gore.

You're getting holes poked into you, dude, that's gore by definition.

dickmoves. At Tommy's request they have SWAPPED APPEARANCES, so Billy is pretending to be Tommy and Tommy is pretending to be Billy. As such, their powers are being faked - Tommy via enchantment and Billy via disguised teleports - and their personalities might not be up to par with what their CR is used to. They're identical twins aside from hair and eye colour (which is easy to fake) so it's a pretty good swap. The game is to see how many people can be pranked! So, you know, have fun with it. [Sabriel's never met Tommy before but she can see the resemblance between the two boys.]

I've actually helped a couple of my classmates get their ears pierced at the college with ice and a needle and a little magic if anything went wrong. It's not all that bad really, it's how my ears got pierced too.

If you're looking for a professional job though, you'd probably have more luck asking one of the doctors around town. There are probably more...up to date piercing practices than the ones I'm familiar with.

[OH MAN SABRIEL Billy can't be a jerk to her. Hopefully he-as-Tommy can make a good first impression.]

[Sabriel huffs a soft chuckle.]

There's nothing wrong with something simple; the ear will heal quickly on its own even without magic if the piercing doesn't take, and it's easy to maintain.

[Man. He hadn't expected Sabriel to be the one to tell him how to take care of it. Colour him surprised.]

He sucks at healing himself anyway, so that'd be the best way, I guess.

[Oh geez, he can't let Tommy handle this one alone. He might actually request a Prince Albert. Or worse.]

Teddy doesn't get it, he's got healing or whatever.

[So Teddy's not really paying attention when he ambles into the room. It's afternoon, he's got a comic book open, and he's looking at that more than anything. Thus, for the moment, he doesn't see the switch between the boys, though he does see enough color out of the corner of his eye to know that they're there.]

Yo. [A bit absently, as he heads to the couch with the intent to flop down on it.]

[Billy exchanges a glance with Tommy, then looks back at Teddy as he heads for the couch. He looks pretty inattentive, but Billy still has some serious doubts about their ability to fool him.

No way to know for sure without trying, though, so he relaxes his posture as much as possible and leans back against the nearest wall, fingers drumming. Tommy's so often bored and the world moves too slowly for him, so it seems appropriate.]

[ There is a question in every young man's life that he must face. Does he take a joke too far, does he fully commit to it or does he back off. ]

Hey, T. [ He has a little time to decide. ]

Tommy's right. Teddy just heals right over. [ Tommy tugs absently at his earlobe. How... did those stay in, anyway? Were they a part of Teddy's body? Could he feel them? Or, wow, what if when he took them out they just healed over instantly.

Things to play with later. ]

An ear, for now. [ He curbs the urge to ask "is the right ear really the gay ear? ] How much does it hurt to do it that way?

I've wondered myself how he manages to keep his...um, decorations. [Mia's personal theory is that it just doesn't hurt him.] Since I've never done it, I don't want to offer to try, and potentially cause a problem for you.

[Aaaaand stop.

Teddy does not flop on the couch. Instead he pauses, lifts his head from the book, then looks between the two of them for a few seconds.

The tones of their voice. Their postures right now. Their facial expressions. The way they'd been acting prior to today, when they thought Teddy didn't care enough to pay attention.

...

Two can play at this game. Or, rather, three. Setting the comic book on top of the couch, Teddy heads over to "Tommy", then wraps an arm around his shoulder and gives him a kiss on the temple. Hey, bf.]

So, the great switcheroo is today?

MY GOD.

This is the most surreal and horrible thing he's ever seen. ]

Never. Do that again. Ever.

[ A glance to Billy. Does he have any idea? ]

How hard can it be? Rebellious teenage girls have been putting pins in their ears forever.

That's true. [But he has so many bits of...accessory.] What would you do if this was your world?

[Billy can't help it; he snorts and ducks his head, not even trying to hide his amusement. Seeing the stark horror on his own face while Teddy kisses "Tommy"... yep, it's pretty funny when it's a sure thing that Teddy knows what's up.]

See, I told you he'd know!

Thank goodness you aren't a rebellious teenage girl. [Pins in your ears. Even iron-stomached Mia makes a face at the idea (of course, she's picturing hatpins or cloak-pins). Billy seems so cavalier about it.] In truth, it probably isn't very hard at all. If there's a book about it in the library I could see what I think.

I don't know how you thought you could fool the guy who kind of does this for a living.

[It's the subtle differences, but to Teddy, they're obvious and telling enough for him to know who's who right away. Chin on "Tommy"'s shoulder, he looks over to "Billy" and - oh, it's weird. Half hilarious because he knows it's Tommy, but half weird because he looks so much like Billy.]

Or did you want me to kiss you instead?

[Billy smirks, lifting a hand to sift through Teddy's hair; it's half out of habit and half because it was funny to see Tommy squirm.]

You know, I don't think anyone ever actually called you that. It was just sort of assumed.

[Teddy tightens his arm around Billy's shoulder, though he can't help giving a little smirk as well.]

I dunno, you're both pretty evil for this. Now I'll have to either close my eyes or keep the lights off if we want to do anything tonight.

I heard once that you can use a nail and a potato or something like that!

I think you might be better off waiting until you could get a piercing gun through mission points...I've got some rubbing alcohol you could use on your ear, though, to make sure the area is properly cleaned and doesn't get infected after the piercing is done.

There's tattoo parlors and body mod shops. You can pay a pro to do it right.
