Hey out there, Luceti. Are we all more or less ourselves again? Pretty sure we are, uh... here's hoping.

Considering how crazy things have been lately, Teddy and I were talking, and we think it'd be a good time to run this. We all need a break. So courtesy of the LGBTQQA Club - um, I'm tentatively calling it "Alliance", for the sake of minimizing all the abbreviations, better name possibly pending - I'm happy to introduce: Luceti's first-ever (I think) Speed Dating.

If you don't know what speed dating is, it's pretty much exactly how it sounds. The idea is we'd all get together, pair up, you'd talk to someone you might not have talked to before for about ten minutes, and then afterwards decide how you liked it and if you want to see them again. First impressions count for a lot, and sometimes that's all it takes to find your true love or your new best friend.

We're going to run it next weekend - Saturday afternoon, we figure is a good time - and sign-ups are starting now so we'll have time to pair everyone up. Anyone can participate, not just club members or people in the LGBT spectrum, and you're not obligated to do anything if you don't like it. So why not give it a shot? ...And we'll have cookies. Teddy's making them and the recipe looks amazing. Anyone else want to bring some food and stuff? We can have a table for contributions...

Um, anyway. I'll be over by the plaza today, and on the journal network, too, if you've got any questions or if you want to sign up.

[The above message is also written out (albeit less informally). And there's a table with posters and some forms in the plaza, near the school, all day. Billy's just hanging out and drawing the passerbys while he waits, if anyone wants to chat him up about it in person.]

Well, besides who you meet and how long you talk the first time, speed dating isn't limited on what you get to do or talk about. It's really just a way to get people to meet and start talking.

Where would you arrange it? Sounds like a lot of people want in on it.

Haha, yeah, you sounded like you were from the future. That's good news, though.

[What sort of shoddy club member would Jack be if he didn't come to keep his brave president company at the dreaded Information Booth? In the interest of not being shoddy, he also brings out a soft drink and a bag of pretzels, which he deposits on the table before taking a form to fill out.]

I mean, you've gotta be okay with the club itself. The gender and sexuality spectrum.

Ah, yeah, I was thinking about that. The rec center, maybe? I think it's big enough, and it's more casual than the school.

[Pretzels! What a bro. Billy grins and grabs for it at once, popping open the bag to munch one before responding. He will never say no to pretzels.]

Hey, thanks! Attendance is looking good, actually. [He nudges the growing pile of sign-up forms.] I didn't expect this much, but it's great.

Fantastic. Let me know if you need a hand with the organisation.

[He finishes with his form and takes the stack, leafing though in search of familiar names. There's a grin on his face as he remembers the date of this proposed event, as well as what's in the works for the day before.]

I should be only slightly hungover on the day of, especially by the afternoon.

[There's something to be said for significant others, even temporary ones. It's a feel-good that some people thrive on.

A fair number, actually. I didn't expect it to be as popular as it apparently is.

Teddy? [ Instantly pinged, although after that she has to...actually figure out what this is about. ...That sure is a lot of letters she's not familiar with, hm. ]

I'm not entirely sure what the letters are, but...I'll definitely drop by, if fourteen isn't too young for this? I'd like to make more friends, and I'd like to try some of those cookies.

[ a pause while she considers the whole concept once again... ]

Well. I suppose it can't hurt. I can sign up through you?

I think that would work. Plus, most people know where that is.

How many people have signed up so far?

...You have a point. With how much the population changes in the village, it would be pretty easy to miss someone you'd want to meet. I guess it wouldn't be exactly the same situation in most places that would need speed dating, but maybe it's a little similar in a bigger town. I mean, back home, I hear that some of the cities on the mainland have thousands of people.

[It sounded like some of them were even in the tens of thousands, which stretched her imagination a little even when trying to compare it to the army camp formed at the Battle of the Bridge Plain. She thought she might have heard of ones with hundreds of thousands of people, but that just seemed ridiculous.]

[This gets Zatanna’s attention for all the right reasons. But since people ~~Robin~~ are creepers, she’ll wait until she catches him in person to ask. It isn’t exactly hard to hunt him down in the middle of the plaza.]

So do people have to sign themselves up, or can they be volunteered?

Well, I could give you more...

[Teddy squeezes his hands in return, thumbs stroking the knuckles closet to them, and nuzzles his nose against Billy's hair. It might be Billy's favorite shampoo, but Teddy's grown to love the smell just for that. Plus, his hair is just nice.]

... But that'd probably require us going back to our place.

[Bulla stops by the plaza. She saw the journal post, but she's pretty sure that even responding to a post about speed dating where her father could see it would be a bad idea. She'll call the event a meet and greet since all it involves is talking anyway.]
