Hey out there, Luceti. Are we all more or less ourselves again? Pretty sure we are, uh... here's hoping.

Considering how crazy things have been lately, Teddy and I were talking, and we think it'd be a good time to run this. We all need a break. So courtesy of the LGBTQQA Club - um, I'm tentatively calling it "Alliance", for the sake of minimizing all the abbreviations, better name possibly pending - I'm happy to introduce: Luceti's first-ever (I think) Speed Dating.

If you don't know what speed dating is, it's pretty much exactly how it sounds. The idea is we'd all get together, pair up, you'd talk to someone you might not have talked to before for about ten minutes, and then afterwards decide how you liked it and if you want to see them again. First impressions count for a lot, and sometimes that's all it takes to find your true love or your new best friend.

We're going to run it next weekend - Saturday afternoon, we figure is a good time - and sign-ups are starting now so we'll have time to pair everyone up. Anyone can participate, not just club members or people in the LGBT spectrum, and you're not obligated to do anything if you don't like it. So why not give it a shot? ...And we'll have cookies. Teddy's making them and the recipe looks amazing. Anyone else want to bring some food and stuff? We can have a table for contributions...

Um, anyway. I'll be over by the plaza today, and on the journal network, too, if you've got any questions or if you want to sign up.

[The above message is also written out (albeit less informally). And there's a table with posters and some forms in the plaza, near the school, all day. Billy's just hanging out and drawing the passerbys while he waits, if anyone wants to chat him up about it in person.]

[Well, she's just sort of sounding this out to herself to try and work out what the heck it means, but the journal will pick her up sounding confused anyway.]

Is that how dating works where you come from?

[That sounds kind of silly to her. Then again, she's from a small village where everyone pretty much already knows everyone, so first impressions are hard to come by.]

Speed dating, huh? Well, I don't suppose that's too bad a way to spend a day! I'll give it a shot.

Ah, sorry- it's like a support group here for people who have sexualities and genders that aren't always accepted by society.

The full title is Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Questioning, and Allies. Kind of a mouthful, though.

Not always! It's just one fun option out of many. Dating isn't a concept that has rules attached to it or anything.

Just hope the guys don't blame me if I make them look bad by comparison. It's nothing personal after all.

[Teddy's been hanging around the area, mostly to answer questions himself, help Billy however he can, practice his shapeshifting and wander off if he gets bored of being in the same general area, which is one of the reasons why he's gone now.

The other reason is shown when he returns with two paper bags held in one arm and drinks in the other, although he's not necessarily himself. He's decided to shift into the last person he visited, which might be a clue as to what at least one of the bags might contain.]

[He holds out the bag first, which contains food from Seventh Heaven and cookies from the bakery.]

[Billy looks up at the familiar voice, has a quick double-take, then lifts a brow.]

Do you know how weird it is to be called that in someone else's voice?

[He ignores the comment itself; he's not... that bad. Generally. Just when he's stressed or overly enthused, the latter of which he very much is today.]

[Pffft. Ladies man, eh.]

If you feel badly about it, maybe you could make a public apology after it's over.

The "Alliance", hmm? It's a wonderful name, Billy. [Very superhero-y, but appropriate nonetheless. Ororo approves!

But also:] And what's this about speed dating?

[Hence why Teddy is here for you, darling. The comment gets Teddy to chuckle in a way that is very much him and not the person he's impersonating, and once Billy takes the bag, he uses his free hand to pass the drink as well.]

Glad to know I'm the only one who gets to call you that.

[As Rapunzel, he sits, but as Teddy, he opens up his own bag, eying what's inside with a hungry gleam. There is definitely a manwich that's calling his name in there.]

So, who all's shown interest so far?

Maybe I will. Don't want any hurt feelings over a bit of fun after all.

You think? I wasn't sure if it was too cliche or obvious.

[He's oddly pleased by her approval.]

And yeah- are you interested in giving it a shot?

[Well, it is a dorky pet name; he can't imagine anyone else being familiar enough with him to use it. Besides maybe Kate. Kate's a bro. But she also knows Teddy uses it, so it would be weird.

Billy sets aside his work for a moment to tug open the second bag, mumbling a "thanks" as he pulls out a bagel. With his free hand he gives a little tray with filled-out forms a nudge.]

A few people. We might end up with a good turn out, actually.

If it was either, I didn't notice. I think it's appropriate, all things considered.

[And then she chuckles, smiling kind of shyly.] ... Well. I'm not sure I could really see myself at such a thing. But I'll be happy to help you supervise, of course.

Just don't get cocky. I hear girls like confidence, but only if you don't take it too far.

[Aww, here he'd been getting his hopes up. Sure, Black Panther isn't here, but it'd still be cool.]

You sure? It doesn't have to be all about romance.

Don't worry there! I have the perfect amount of confidence and cockiness! I'm a pro at this! [Pro in failing at this.]

[Before he looks, Teddy takes the opportunity to take a bite out of his sandwich - rather, the very large, very meat-heavy sandwich. He might even be subtly making his jaw a little bigger just to get that first bite in. It's while he chews that he looks down at the forms, eyebrows raised as if impressed, though he politely waits until he's done chewing and swallowing before saying anything.]

Wow, that many? And this is only the first day!

[His smile stays on his face, even as he glances at Billy out of the corner of his eye once realization hits.]

I'm baking a lot of cookies, aren't I?

[Billy can't quite keep the gleam out of his eyes as he meets Teddy's eyes, a mixture of delight and borderline schadenfreude found within. He's definitely enjoying this.]

Lots of cookies. I hope you know a recipe or two that bakes well in bulk.

[Oh yeah, he can just feel the charisma oozing from every line.]

Well then. I'd wish you luck, but clearly you don't need it.

Yeah! Save the luck for some poor sap who will really need it! HAHAHAHAHA! [Some poor sap like him.]
