Late October 31st
....
-oh god, wait...]
Did... did I do that?
Late October 31st
It should be so easy to say something else. Reassure him, of course it wasn't you, I was stupid and fought a zombie to protect you and that's how it happened. It was easy to do with everyone else, back at home. It's fine, you didn't do anything wrong. I'm okay, you don't have to say you're sorry.
...
It used to be easy, before he met Billy. Now he can't even do it.]
You... Billy, it wasn't your fault. The virus took control of you. [Which, he knows, answers his question for him.]
Late October 31st
His hand lingers on Teddy's arm, keeping the touch light to prevent hurting him, but wanting to do something- stroke it, soothe it, apologize a million times as if that would fix anything... he feels sick, suddenly, knowing that he'd attacked his best friend and boyfriend because of some stupid disease.]
Teddy...
[God, how does he even apologize for this? Teddy said it wasn't his fault, but he still feels plenty guilty.]
Late October 31st
But there isn't much else to do, is there?]
Hey... [So he traces his fingers back instead, until he can touch a certain spot on Billy's head lightly, a knot that's still there.] I'm the one who gave you this and knocked you out before you could do anything else. We both kind of beat each other up here. [Which, incidentally, he still feels guilty about.]
Late October 31st
Ha... I was wondering where that came from. That was you, huh?
[He recognizes what Teddy is trying to do, and is immediately grateful for it, even if the fact that they'd both been forced to hurt each other is still pretty horrifying. But at least Teddy had managed to stop him before it went too far.
He tries for a smile, and somehow manages to muster up a little one, tremulous but grateful and sincere.]
We suck so much right now. How did we ever get this uncool?
Late October 31st
[Teddy doesn't care if they actually do get on the Avengers team or become X-Men and Teen Titans and Fantastic Four and whatever else they can weasel their way into; they're still a couple of teenagers who don't really know what they're doing half the time.
But he manages a smile as well, small, yet relieved and true, and he moves his fingers to brush them across Billy's forehead.]
As soon as we get out of here, we'll work on being cool again. Promise.
Late October 31st
[Assuming they're comparing themselves to normal fanboys, anyway. Being a teenage super hero must sit somewhere between nerds and normal on the spectrum of coolness in their glorious education system. Not that they're allowed to gloat about it- secret identities and all...
Sighing quietly, Billy lifts his hand to grasp Teddy's, tugging it downwards to press it against his lips. In his position he can't do much, but he wants to do something to return the comfort he's drawing from Teddy.]
I think I'm okay with being uncool, if it means we can rest for a while.
Late October 31st
[It's occurred to Teddy that, with all this chaos going on and with him being so afraid for both Billy's and his own life, he hasn't gotten any good sleep for over twenty four hours, and the restless nap he took before Billy tried to sneak away didn't count. Now that things are finally calming down, and he's assured that everything's okay, he's exhausted, and he's feeling it.]
Do you mind if I...? [He shifts his weight, sliding his legs just slightly before looking down at Billy for affirmation. Even if he just stays awake until they get back to the apartment, he'd at least like to look at his boyfriend without looking down at him or seeing his face upside down.]
Late October 31st
[Billy shifts cautious aside to make room for Teddy to lie down. it might be a little squished, but they can certainly manage. This isn't the first time they've done this, either, which makes him frown a bit.]
Brings back memories, huh...
Late October 31st
He completes the motion after that, until he's resting on his good side and moving his other arm just slightly, as much as he can with the splint around it, to rest on Billy's stomach. See, it's not useless, and it's been feeling better and better while time passes.]
Yeah... Looks like we switched, though.
Late October 31st
We really need to stop meeting like this.
Late October 31st
We really do. Bet it'd make a good fanfic, though.
Late October 31st
[Teddy's focus makes him a bit shy, smiling faintly and lowering his eyes, chuckling softly under his breath. This is what he needed- what they both needed. This comfort and the embracing and the company and just- this blanket of safety, draping over the both of them as they get used to returning to normal, or at least as close to normal as Luceti gets. He needs Teddy pressed up against him, his breath on his lips, that perfect smile in his mind's eye.]
