If you're trying to throw me off the trail, it's not working. You're saying things that don't match up with facts. [There are enough subtle canon differences to invalidate this entire line of reasoning. There's no way Slade would've been as hung up on apprentices if he actually had kids. And what the hell kind of name is "Deathstroke" anyway?]

Oh, it doesn't? Maybe you're from a different universe or something... or one I haven't seen yet. Apparently there's tons of different 'verses out there. Comics, cartoons, books- Batman's really popular.

[He's trying to keep things casual; he knows it's a weird thing to discuss, even if he hasn't experienced the surreality of it himself, yet.]

So correct me, if I've been misinformed. I can only tell you what I've seen.

You could still be lying. [And Billy shouldn't think Robin won't still be trying to figure out a way to scare Billy into absolutely telling every inch of truth that can be squeezed out of him before he wets himself.]

Sure, I could be. So basically you've got two options: you could hear me out and correct the mistakes my world's managed to make about alternate-you, or you could keep it to yourself and stew silently in the fact that I've got it all wrong. Either way, it's your call. I won't pry.

[No skin off his back, even if he is curious. After a moment's pause, his expression softens and he glances over at Robin.]

I get that you're frustrated. I don't know how I'd feel if somebody came up to me and said there was a comic book all about my life. I know it doesn't really compare, but this is weird for me too.

I'm not frustrated. [He's fuming and suspicious and trying to analyze Bily's mannerisms for common signs of lying. Which is totally different from being frustrated.]

But it's not exactly polite to go on talking about me when I know almost nothing about you. [You know. Polite like hanging people out of windows.]

[Actually, the window-hanging is exactly why he's wondering why he should tell Robin a damn thing.]

You're the one who said to tell you everything, remember... but fine, what do you want to know?

You've seen me teleport. Is flying such a big leap of logic for you?

[Seriously, that's just the tip of the iceberg for is magic, bro. Practically the first thing he ever learned to do.]

Not a leap. It's just interesting. [If he can do more than one thing, then he's probably not a mutant. He'll have to review the correspondence between Billy and that Richards woman to see what insignificant things might leak more information.]

So what else do you do?

Honestly, my powers are all over the map. Flying, lighting bolts, force fields, location spells- I just kind of... make things happen by wanting them to happen. Like magic.

"Like" magic, or actual magic? [Because Magic is most definitely a real thing. It's also generally a thing that's slightly out of his league. Not that it would stop him from trying one way or the other.]

Okay, sorry, actual magic. It was a bad joke. I can't really explain it better than that- I don't know much about my power. It's still pretty new to me.
