Community. [He repeats the word, sounding incredulous. Mostly because he can't even imagine such a thing. It's a completely foreign concept. The same as:] ...safe space.

[He's had two men threaten to out him before, when he was till young and not nearly cautious enough.]

How is such a thing possible?

It's possible because we work at it. Because we form trust within the group. But more than anything, it's because most of us understand how important it is to keep secrets.

[Sometimes, secrets are all that keeps them alive. What could be more important?]
