Maybe...but it'd be a lotta work.

[It would have to be completely handmade, including all of the materials used to put everything together. Glancing back over at the construction her smile fades a little.]

It makes lots of shadows...the bad things might hide in it.

[Ah, yes... the fear of shadows. Knowing what he knows now, it's not like he can just tell her there's no monsters in her closet.

He has heard a few things about this place that might help, though.]

Hmm, I guess that's possible... but at least you don't have to worry about that here. This whole playground is enchanted by a special magic, apparently- nothing bad can come near it.

Really?

[Jack had told Sabriel when she'd first arrived that there were no bad things here in Luceti, no shambling figures that would drag people away in the night but she couldn't help but still be a little afraid. But if Billy says there's nothing to fear, then she believes him.]

Okay...oh! [Sabriel unslings her backpack and rests it in her lap, looking up at the older boy with an almost mischievous grin, holding it open for Billy to see; inside among a sweater and a juice box there are at least ten chocolate bars.]

Look! I found chocolate!

[Pfft, that is a lot of chocolate. Someone's going to be on a sugar rush all day.]

Wow, you found the mother-load, that's for sure. Was that at the store?

Mmhmm, they said I could take them so I got a bunch of them!

[Not that she really knows what any of them are but she holds the bag out to Billy.]

Here, take some!

Oh geez- how can I resist that offer?

[Billy peers in curiously, studying the wrappers for a moment, then fishes out a little orange package, holding it up very seriously.]

Sabriel. Do you know what this is?

[Sabriel blinks up as billy holds up the package, shaking her head with a faint frown. Was she in trouble?]

No...

[He tears the package open, holding a little chocolate cup out towards her.]

This is a Reese's Peanut Butter Cup. And it is my favourite candy.

[And since he can't keep a straight face like this around the poor kid, he finally smiles.]

Try it! It's really good.

Butter made from peanuts?

[Now that just sounds wacky. But if Billy likes it then it has to be good! Sitting up with a smile she reaches over and breaks the chocolatey cup in half, taking one piece and leaving the other for Billy.]

It doesn't look like butter...

Doesn't taste like it, either. It's way better.

[To demonstrate, Billy takes a big bite of his piece, closing his eyes and announcing his delight with an emphatic "mmmmm", in case she has lingering doubts.

It's only half-feigned. He really does like them.]

[Well, after that reaction there's nothing left for Sabriel to do but take a bite for herself and see what it's like. Liking some of the melted chocolate from her fingers she takes a tentative nibble on her piece.]

Oh. Oooh it's nutty and buttery!

See? I told you. The best candy.

[He grins, idly licking his fingers.]

Thanks for sharing, by the way. I'll never turn down chocolate.
