[ There's grass stains all over his nice new pants and his chest. Ugh Tripping at that speed? Not so fun. ]

It's not my fault you're so slow.

I teleported across the village. Instantly. You're such a kid sometimes...

[Billy has to resist the urge to give an indignant sniff. Seriously, a year of separation and this is what he gets?

He does dismiss the spell that stopped Tommy in his tracks, though. He's not a total tyrant. Then he spreads his arms out.]

Well? Do I pass, or what?

Too slow. If you'd just stayed still I'd have found you. [ He shakes his head. ] You need to learn some patience.

[ Billy's bantering.

Billy's being sassy.

What's happening. ] Yeah, yeah. Did our kidnappers drop my clothes anywhere?

They're probably in the plaza. Which, if you'll wait long enough for a teleport, I can take us to.

[He needs to learn patience. Him. Out of the two of them. Ugh.]

Do you know what's going on, by the way? Do you remember this place at all?

Ugh. [ He brushes some stray grass off of him. ] No. I've never seen it before in my life. And I think I'd remember a little slice of freakish paradise like this.

[ He waves the book around. ] Browsed this. Gathered that we've been kidnapped, the wings are normal, and that people here are from all over.

[Well, so much for taking the easy route. Billy sighs faintly, grabbing the book and flipping rapidly through the pages, searching for the guide. He could explain it the usual way, but the benefit of having a speedster brother (one of the few benefits, actually) is he can probably read the whole thing before Billy could explain the first paragraph.]

That's the cliffnotes version, yeah. Welcome to Luceti. Different worlds, different universes, different times. We're a multiverse melting pot of crazy.

Oh yeah?

[ Snatching it over and breezing through the explanation.

Billy's... normal. Really, really normal. His brow furrows. ]

Don't tell me I'm even older than you now.

[Billy snorts. They... actually look pretty close, as far as he can tell. And considering they're identical, he figures he'd notice the difference. It doesn't look too obvious.]

I've been here for a year and a half. I'm almost eighteen now.

[Which should give Tommy a better idea of why he's not... well.]

[ A split second of confusion. Just one. They're identical, he doesn't notice anything on Billy's face that he wouldn't see on his own (barring that dumb headband, goggles all the way).

And if he's only almost 18, that means that... Well. It means a lot of things, none of which he's particularly willing or eager to disclose. ]

I'm still older.

You're still claiming that? It's not like we know who was- you know what, forget it.

[He doesn't care. He doesn't care who's older, or who wins the stupid argument, or what time Tommy's from or any of it. It's irrelevant, unimportant.

What matters is that Tommy's here now, right in front of him, and it's been a year, and it all hits him in that moment: how much he's missed his stupid, obnoxious, dorky brother.

So Billy's moving in to wrap his arms around him now, and he damn well better accept it.]

[No. Lies are bad. Lies are ugly and empty and cold and lonely. He will not encourage this.]

That's wrong. I'm sorry, but... it's so wrong. Why do you think emotions, connections to people, or even pain makes anyone weak? Why would being alone ever be better? When there's people who care about you, who want to help you... who've been able to overlook even when you've done horrible things. People who might still be willing to call you family.

[He closes his eyes, exhaling meaningfully. It's a lot - probably too much - but it's hard to stop the floodgates when he lets them open like this.]

Is it really that you think you don't need them, or are you just telling yourself that so you'll stop wanting it so badly?

Anything you love is a knife that can be turned against you. [He says this barely above a whisper. But he had so many things taken from him, he learned that lesson well. And he's certainly used that as a weapon against other people; it's a ready handle for manipulation.] Any bond can be turned to one more means of control.

I'd learned to not want such things any more, when I left Asgard. They were impossible. I don't know what's happened to me here. [He laughs.] It feels like I've somehow forgotten all of those lessons I bled to learn.

[He frowns, looking at Billy.] What people? [It's a strange mixture of ego and self-loathing, always in this. Why would anyone call him family? Such things are not for Loki. And Loki is not for them, because he stands alone.]

[ Hugs are hard. Tommy stiffens, shifting a little awkwardly - but it's been a year. A whole year since the last time he got a reaction out of Billy that wasn't a half-hearted response to a nerd-quote or barely shrugging off his increasingly obnoxious attempts to get his brother's attention.

So he lets the hug go on a little longer than he normally would have, ruffling Billy's hair with a lightning fast hand as they part. ]

You're such a loser. And I'm starving.

[That was... oddly affectionate for Tommy, and Billy has to pause to ponder it for a moment, brows furrowed as he gazes quizzically at his brother. He'd been a bit strange sometimes during his last visit to Luceti, but it had been subtle enough that Billy'd only gotten hints of it here and there. Somehow he's getting the sense that it's... worse. Or better? He's not sure what the right word for it is. It's good that Tommy's more cool about physical touch than before, but...

...well, whatever. One thing at a time.]

There's a bunch of shops and a restaurant down the road- about four miles that way. We can get your clothes and some food.

[He points, already glowing blue for another teleport, lips quirking into a smile.]

Meet you there?

[He knows Tommy hates teleporting, and if he follows the road he hopefully won't get lost again.]

It isn't a bad thing to change how you think or feel about things. You weren't happy in Asgard, were you? Haven't you had happy times here?

[The last question... well, that's not so easy to answer, mostly because Billy doesn't know most of Loki's associates or how they feel about him.]

What about Rogue? Or... even me? If you weren't important to us, we wouldn't have stuck around.

If I don't get bored waiting.

[ he's off like a shot. ]

[Billy's not far behind him, flaring into existence in the middle of the plaza, by the fountain. What's that brother of his getting into now?]

[ HE GOT HIS CLOTHES AND HE'S THROWING HIS CIVVIES ON. ]

[In the middle of the street? God damn, Tommy, decency!!]

...Okay, well that's one job done.

[He'll just... change into civvies, too. Because wandering around town in spandex is a bit weird.]

What're you hungry for?

[ Please, he's just a blur. ]

Everything. But speaking of food, have you seen a guy around here? Bald, black, orange glasses, kind of constipated looking?

I thought I was, at times. But none of that was true. [He shrugged. It all had been predicated upon a lie, and him the unwitting dupe. How they all must laugh about that now.]

Yes, I have. [He wishes he could lie and say no, so he could start freeing himself from the very idea. But Rogue has made him very happy, on more than one occasion, and hadn't the entire point of that been that it was unquestionably true? He'd never told her any lies, not wittingly. And there was Ikki, and Rapunzel, and Billy... he had to admit that to himself.]

You have been... a friend, Billy. A true one. [But is that the same as family? He doesn't know any more. How can he define something he's never had?]

[What does that have to do with food, anyway.]

That's not ringing any bells, sorry. Friend of yours?

[Aside from the orange glasses bit that could totally be Eli, but he's never thought of he and Tommy as friends.]

I wouldn't put it off. Getting your own place is nice, man. [Eyebrow waggle.] Especially when you want to have a girl over.

Oh yeah, great guy. We had coffee twice, now I think he'd die for me. He's like some freakish super genius too.
