[When Teddy withdraws his arm, Billy feels the beginnings of panic- that he's gone too far, pushed it too much, and they're actually going to fight. It's almost enough to make him complete the withdrawal, move off of his boyfriend and sit across the couch from him or something, because at least if he did that he wouldn't have to watch Teddy pull back bit by bit.
And then Teddy speaks, and he feels worse. Because that's something he can't argue against, nor would he. He knows Loki's past. It's just been so easy to forget, in light of what he's witnessed over the last several months. Teddy hadn't seen him during the draft- holding Billy and letting him cry on him, like he was important, like he cared. Teddy hadn't seen how much joy he'd felt during their magic lessons, how much it cheered him up on darker days. And Teddy hadn't seen him today, holding his shoulder and brushing his hair, almost... fatherly. It's been so surreal, but Billy can't help but admit to himself that he's clung to it, wanting it to be true. It felt real.]
